- DNSPC artistic and educational project
The PSPBB/ ESAD is one of twelve drama schools in France preparing students for the acting profession. It qualifies students for the National Higher Professional Diploma in Acting (Diplôme national supérieur professionnel de comédien – DNSPC) and the State Diploma for Drama Teachers (Diplôme d'État de professeur de théâtre). It also offers training for the State Diploma as a theater teacher.
The aim is to train autonomous, responsible actors and actresses who will be able to contribute to various creative projects at the end of their course.
Teaching is provided by performing arts professionals who extend their artistic research at the school.
Dialogue with these established artists during the workshops enables students to define, step by step, their own artistic language.
At PSPBB/ESAD, our courses are resolutely oriented towards contemporary creation and the exploration of new aesthetics. They give pride of place to contemporary authors and new generations of directors, with a constant concern for parity. The courses also focus on bodywork, with guest choreographers for each graduating class.
Fostering the creative spirit does not exclude providing the technical foundation necessary for acting. During the first two years of school, mornings are devoted to learning these basics. Dance, breathing, speech, singing and martial arts workshops are held regularly. The afternoons are devoted to research workshops, usually with stage directors, for periods adapted to the artistic and educational project.
The PSPBB/ESAD works in close collaboration with a number of creative structures in Paris and the surrounding region, based on the principle of residency and partnership, with the aim of immersing young actors in a professional context from the very start of their course.
Theoretical training, adapted to the actor’s course, is also provided by Sorbonne Nouvelle University.
The partnership with the university enables students to obtain, in addition to the DNSPC, a Bachelor’s degree in Theatre Studies (Licence d’études théâtrales) — PSPBB/ESAD track.
Professional integration is a priority for PSPBB/ESAD, via the integration fund, access to auditions and networking with performing arts organisations.

The course leading to the drama teacher DE (diploma) is available in both full-time and continuing education.
Since 2011, the PSPBB/ESAD Integration fund has been helping PSPBB graduate students by providing them with artistic support to help them get started in their careers. It can provide salary support to cultural structures (companies, theatres) wishing to hire one of our students. The last three graduating classes can benefit from this support.
