A promising first edition
The String Orchestra Meetings represent an exceptional initiative: a string orchestra session bringing together students in higher education for a week.
Under the artistic direction of Xavier Gagnepain, this first edition brings together talents from eight institutions: PSPBB, IESM Aix en Provence, PESMD Bordeaux, ESM Bourgogne Franche-Comté (Dijon), ESMD Hauts de France (Lille), the Aliénor (Poitiers), and HEAR (Strasbourg) departments, and with the participation of the CRR of Boulogne-Billancourt.
Two concerts
This week of gatherings will culminate in two concerts, one of which will be held in the prestigious setting of the Cité de l'architecture:
- Thursday 19 December in the exhibition spaces of the Cité de l'architecture
- Friday 20 December in the auditorium of the CRR of Boulogne-Billancourt

A unifying and ambitious project
Designed to showcase artistic excellence and encourage exchanges between institutions, on both a national and international scale, this project is already drawing enthusiastic responses from students, partner institutions, and the public.
A professional meeting
This week also includes a professional meeting on Wednesday 18 December. This social event will provide an opportunity to meet with political and professional figures who are involved and interested in orchestral practice. They will share their role, their actions and their vision of the profession of orchestra musician, in all its dimensions.
The guests for this event are:
- André de Bussy, town councillor in charge of cultural affairs in Boulogne-Billancourt and territorial councillor for cultural affairs in Grand Paris Seine Ouest (GPSO)
- Nicolas Candoni, head of the Music Office at the Department of Cultural Affairs of the City of Paris
- Philippe Fanjas, director of the French Association of Orchestras (AFO)
