I truly began my intensive photography practice during my studies at the art school, where I discovered pinhole photography, a process that changed everything for me. It is a camera that one can make oneself, simply by piercing a tiny hole in the side of a light-tight box. I found in this process a way to create images closer to my emotions. The very long exposure times allow for motions, the duplication of the same model, bodies that extend, multiply, dissolve and fade. I photograph to tell stories, to illustrate feelings, emotional life.
My pictures evoke intimate subjects. What I portray is the carnal sensation, the expression of desire, abandonment, lack, despondency, doubt, a need for consolation, love, physical contact.
The bodies are alone, curled up, emerging from themselves, moving away, disappearing. Or they embrace, kiss and touch. Ultimately, the identity of the models no longer matters, they become mere bodies that no longer belong to them. My pictures tell the memory of the skin and the soul.
They attempt to speak the language of bodies, to capture a moment that is slipping away, to visually retranscribe an emotion felt. They are haunted by ghosts, imbued with a poetic melancholy that fascinates me. Between gentleness and violence. Between sensuality and macabre.
